We are four room-partners - Biren Prajapati, Dhaval Patel, Gaurang Shah, and myself Mahesh Chavda, staying in Pune on rented house. We all are Gujarati and work in different software companies. Let me tell you that we are not just room-partners, we are very very good friends as well; in fact three of us know one another for more than 6 years.
One day Gaurang decided to buy a new pillow, since the one he had been using for past 4-5 months had turned a bit harder. That was sure to happen because while purchasing he had chosen a pillow that had low quality cotton stuff inside and thus compromised with the quality just to save a few money. Although when he retrospected he felt a bit regretted having compromised on quality. Anyway he has to purchase a new pillow and dispose the older one. Gaurang purchased a new pillow and Biren started to use that older one. But how can a BANIA let anything go waste without producing money! So he decided to sell the older one to Biren.
Gaurang fixed the price for the older pillow at Rs. 30/- that Biren thought was more than the pillow deserved, so he offered 20 Rs for the pillow. Here the deal dead-locked. Neither Gaurang nor Biren was to deviate from their offered amount. The deal remained in standstill for about 2 months. Gaurang thought that having something would be better than nothing and he decreased his bid amount to Rs. 25/-. Still it was not reasonable for Biren, he continued his stand and remained adamant at Rs. 20/-. Again there came impasse.
Another month passed and thus Gaurang's pillow was being used by Biren without producing any money for Gaurang. That was the thing pinching Gaurang, but nobody was ready to break the ice. Eventually Gaurang thought that better even if he gets 20/- Rs. for the pillow that Biren was already using free of charge. So finally he broke the ice and sold his pillow to Biren on 20/- Rs. Thus a grand deal finalized that was lingering for a long period.
